IBM PC and Compatibles:
The World Factbook data can be accessed in a variety of ways.
There are 2 directories of additional resource materials beyond
what is available directly within the World Factbook Database.
* MAPS folder has the maps for the 247 countries in the
following formats: PICT, PCX, and TIFF -- with and without
city names. These are made available for import into your
graphics program.
* DATABASE folder has numerical data in a variety of formats
so that you can import them into your favorite database or
spreadsheet program and compare the data about all the
countries! -- Find out which country has the lowest or
highest birth rate / death rate / economic growth rate
/ GNP / etc.
**** WINDOWS -- NEW FOR THIS RELEASE ****
In Windows we have built a ToolBook "book" to access the data in the
following ways: search for country names, search for any text
using "ROMWARE", find countries geographically, "zoom" in or out
of geographic regions, and finally select countries alphabetically.
All you need is Windows, a run-time version of ToolBook is provided.
Features include: color maps of each country and region, text
descriptions of each country, ROMWARE search, and on-line help.
The DOS version below has additional text appendices about world
organizations.
**** DOS ****
For DOS we have a full database in TextWare, which includes text
descriptions of each country, color maps for each country,
and text appendices about the United Nations, world
organizations, and measurements.
See the file "Contents.TXT" for details about the contents of this CD-ROM.
